Mr. Jonathon Miquelon
Principal
My name is Jonathon Miquelon, and this is my second year as the principal of South Elgin High School. After 20 years in education, all of which were spent in U46, I am proud and excited for the opportunity to lead the important work that we are doing to continually change our systems until they measurably work for all students. My core belief is that if we work together to provide our students with complex, challenging tasks, establish high expectations and support students to exceed those expectations, and change and build an environment where all students feel a strong sense of belonging; that our students and community will thrive. I look forward to working alongside you to ensure that all our students Take the Future by Storm!

Prior to becoming the Associate Principal here, I taught high school Math, was a middle school assistant principal and principal. Hello Storm Family!
I'm thrilled to serve as the Assistant Principal of Innovation at South Elgin!
I bring over a decade of experience teaching and leading in Chicago, Minneapolis, and now Elgin. Most of my time has been spent teaching high school English in public, charter, and alternative settings. I’ve also served as a lead teacher, department chair, School Improvement Planning chair, Student Support Team chair, Resident Administrator, and more. Through it all, one lesson has stayed constant: meaningful academic, social-emotional, and professional growth only happens in a safe environment built on trust and respect. That shared belief is already alive at South Elgin, and I’m honored to be part of a team that lives it every day. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, exploring nature, playing the drums, and catching live music. I'm also lucky to be married to my best friend, Vanessa, who teaches 5th grade at Heritage Elementary right here in U-46! I am proud to work in a district committed to equity, inclusivity, and supporting all students. LET’S GO, STORM!
