World Languages
At U‑46 high schools, the World Languages Department offers a comprehensive sequence of language courses, including Spanish, Heritage Spanish, French, German, and Japanese, with honors and IB pathways available for learners at all levels . Designed around national and state standards, our curriculum builds communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while deepening cultural understanding. From introductory classes to advanced coursework and biliteracy recognition, students engage in real-world tasks such as conversation, projects, and the study of authentic materials that support academic rigor and global readiness.
